Lagos: Mrs Adunni Akindele, Chairman of the Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has taken significant steps to boost security operations and emergency medical response in the community by donating essential vehicles.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Akindele presented four patrol vehicles, two buses, and an ambulance to the Nigeria Police Force, as well as to local security and environmental teams, and a primary health centre. This initiative is aimed at improving the operational efficiency of local security agencies and enhancing emergency medical services and healthcare access for residents.
Akindele explained that this donation is part of her administration’s commitment to inclusive growth and security reforms. These reforms were part of her agenda when she took office in July 2025. She highlighted that this initiative contributes to the broader achievements made in her first 100 days in office, demonstrating her dedication to fulfilling her campaign promises.
During her election campaign, Akindele promised a 10-point agenda, and she affirmed that her administration has been able to implement at least 90 percent of these plans. The LCDA has also focused on infrastructure, with the rehabilitation of three roads, including a 1.5-kilometre dual carriageway. Educational improvements were made through the renovation of 50 classrooms and the distribution of books and bags to students, along with the establishment of a sickbay room in a public school.
In the healthcare sector, Akindele noted the rehabilitation and equipping of the staff clinic with necessary drugs, support for newborn mothers with cash gifts, and community engagement sessions to sensitize pregnant women on postpartum haemorrhage. The Opeki Primary Healthcare Centre was also upgraded to offer 24-hour services, enhancing healthcare accessibility for residents.
Akindele expressed gratitude to Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the State Party Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, for his support. She pledged continued efforts to ensure residents enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Pastor Ojelabi praised the efforts of the 57 local government chairmen in the state for their developmental projects within their first 100 days in office. He attributed this progress to the removal of fuel subsidies, which increased funds available to local governments, benefiting the people significantly. Ojelabi also expressed optimism that the Federal Government’s tax reforms in 2026 would further enable local governments to execute transformational projects.
Former Lagos State House of Assembly member Mr Adebisi Yusuf commended the six local government chairmen in Alimosho for their focus on delivering democratic dividends to residents. He assured that under his leadership, the chairmen would continue to prioritize people-centred programmes.
Resident Dr Abimbola Smith lauded the chairman’s progress and urged continued efforts to address other dilapidated roads and provide necessary social amenities to the community.
