In commemoration of the Eid-Maulud celebration, the Birthday of Prophet Muhammad, Peace be Upon him, the Alhabibiyya Islamic Society has planted Soursop trees as Charity for the benefit of society.
The Chief Imam of Alhabibiyya Mosque, Ustaz Fuad Adeyemi, said the aim of planting the trees is to celebrate the annual Maolud of the Noble Prophet.
‘Tree planting is the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, and it has everlasting reward from the Almighty God unless the tree is dead or cut off. We realize that in Alhabibiyya Islamic Society, we should plant trees for the benefit of humanity, especially the Soursop, which is Medicinal and can also provide us with a shed’.
Similarly, the Amirat of Alhabibiyya Hajia Rakiya Gambo who also participated in the planting, commended the effort of the mosque committee for following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, Peace be Upon him, and promised to plant more trees to enhance environmental conditions.
In his response, Major General Abbas Adekanye, Retired, said the importan
ce of planting trees cannot be overemphasized. People can benefit from the fruits, shed, and it is also a good source of green energy.
‘After the Second World War, among the conditions outlined in the Geneva Convention, stoppage, the destruction of trees is included, and our Holy Prophet also taught us to imbibe the culture of planting trees and warm us against cutting them without reason or defecating under them’.
About more than forty pairs of Soursop trees were planted by the Alhabibiyya society which pledged to plant more varieties of plants inside and outside the mosque premises, the theme for this year’s annual Eid-Maolud celebration in Alhabibiyya is ‘MAKE IT GREEN’ .
