Anambra State government has stated it would continue to invest in agriculture as a veritable socio-economic platform to boost the economy of the state and create more employment opportunities for youths to thrive.
Governor Obiano stated this during the annual Youth Day, to mark Divine Mercy Sunday, at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha.
The youths cut across the parishes in Onitsha Archdiocese, including outside the country.
Governor Obiano said the dreams of his administration are geared towards improving the standard of living of the youths, create and recreate various channels that would transform the future of the youths positively.
Chief Obiano while speaking on education noted that his administration would further pay adequate attention to promote standard of learning, commending his predecessor for handing over state schools to mission, which he said would restore discipline and morality.
The governor urged the youths to tap into available opportunities the state had mapped out to benefit from different largesse which is geared towards exposing them to various skills.
Governor Obiano stated that over 1000 youths had been trained in different skills, especially on automobile at Innoson Company, saying the second batch of the train would soon commence.
He revealed his administration had employed physically challenged graduates and he has declared free education for all physically challenged who are in state schools.
Earlier in his homily, the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev Dr Valerian Okeke urged youths to shun social vices and channel their productivity positively.
The Catholic Prelate urged Christians to embrace peace and seek for divine mercy in their lives.
The highlight was presentation of award to Governor Obiano by the youth of Onitsha Archdiocese , for his unprecedented achievements in agriculture.
