Nkwelle Ezunaka (Oyi LGA)-Anambra State Government has performed groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 500 Housing Units for the state’s Luxury Place Estate, at Nkwelle Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area (LGA).
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the N4 billion housing projects was signed on July 5, 2019.
“It is a Public Private Partnership between Anambra State Government and ROTECH Company for the construction of buildings on the 50 hectares of land.
“The estate will be 5, 4 and 2 bedrooms duplex respectively, accommodating schools, hospitals, Police post, Church, water facilities, electricity generating system, state of the art security system, and other housing facilities.’’
Performing the ceremony, Gov. Willie Obiano said his administration was committed to embarking on more housing schemes to reduce the accommodation challenges faced by citizens in the state.
Gov. Obiano stressed that the construction would stimulate economic development by creating job opportunities for citizens, noting that the host community would benefit from the project through a Corporate Social Responsibility Programme (CRS).
“This project was attracted to the state due to my administrative policy of `aku-luo-uno’.
“This estate will be one of the best in Anambra State and will add to the economic revenue of the state.
“I urge other Ndi Anambra to come home and invest as this administration has provided every necessary opportunity for businesses to strive.’’
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, ROTECH Company, Mr Austin Oguejiofor, noted that the building project, which would boost development in the housing sector, would be completed within 30 months.
Oguejiofor, who spoke through his Director of Finance, Chinenye Oguejiofor, commended the state government for granting his company the opportunity to develop a world-class estate.
He promised that the project, with an estimated investment value of $6 million, would be completed on time.
Managing Director, Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Mr Jide Ikeakor, said that the investment would improve the government’s Internally Generated Revenue.
Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr Mike Okonkwo, said the project was part of the government’s efforts at implementing and achieving strategic housing objectives to benefit Ndi Anambra.
