Adamawa: The North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Adamawa distributed food items to vulnerable groups and key organisations as part of a renewed effort to impact society. Speaking during the outreach, NEDC’s Coordinator, Mr Khalifa Lawan, stated that the initiative aligns with a directive from the commission’s headquarters.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the gesture aims to reach out to organisations and vulnerable groups across the state before the end of 2025. Mr Lawan emphasized that such interventions are central to the NEDC’s mandate of uplifting communities and improving social welfare. “We are here to support you and to ease your work as you continue serving the public and vulnerable people in your care,” he said. Lawan reaffirmed the group’s commitment to supporting institutions and vulnerable groups across the North-East.
In feedback, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Adamawa chapter, Mr Abdullahi Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the group for the support. He noted that the intervention will significantly ease their day-to-day activities and strengthen their cordial relationship with the commission.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that beneficiaries also included the St Joseph Catholic Church Damilu and Goni Musa Tumo Tsangayya Wauro Jabbe Islamic School. Others are the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Jama’atu Nasril Islam, a Children’s Home, as well as the Jimeta and Yolde-Pate Correctional Centres among others.
