Newly inaugurated Umueze-Anam Caretaker Committee urged to promote peace in LGA

Umueze-Anam (Anambra West LGA)-Newly constituted Caretaker Committee for Umueze-Anam Community, Anambra West Local Government Area (LGA) has been mandated to live up to expectations and promote peace in the area.

The State Government had constituted a Caretaker Committee to facilitate a return of peace to Umueze-Anam, following last November polls for the office of President-General.

The committee has three months within which to complete its assignment and submit findings to Government.

The directive was issued by Transition Committee Chairman, Anambra West LGA, Mr Sylvester Orji-Okafor during courtesy visit by the committee to his office at Umueze-Anam.

Mr Orji-Okafor commended the committee members, reminding them that all eyes were on them with great expectations.

He lauded Government for constituting such committee with the responsibility of resolving the conflict, reconciling aggrieved persons and electing a new executive committee.

He, then, pledged total support, while assuring them that his door would always be open for discussions.

Chairman of the Committee, Mr Edwin Okafor thanked the TC Chairman and State Government for the trust reposed in them, promising to deliver on their mandate.

Mr Patrick Obalum Udoba, an indigene of the community and member representing Anambra West in the Anambra State House of Assembly, urged the committee to carry everyone along in ensuring they delivered on their mandate.
