Nigeria and the state of Israel are making effort to improve and strengthen and the existing relations between the two countries.
The Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Shimon Ben-Shoshan, stated this in Abuja when reiterating his country’s commitment to promoting moral education in Nigeria.
He was speaking at the grand finale of the 2019 edition of National Bible Quiz competition, in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital,
The Ambassador said ”We are very happy to celebrate this year’s contest, we had marvelous contest with one hundred and nine participants across the country, with a lady reaching the final stage.
I hope in 2020 we shall have more than one thousand, nine hundred participants; this is the second edition and it has been a long process from the beginning of this year,
The theme of this year’s contest is Unveiling the treasures of the land.
The land of Nigeria is blessed and its people are blessed with many visionary and entrepreneurs, among them are some of the unique artist that I have ever met.
As you all know the Jewish people are blessed by receiving, and they study it day and night. The study of the bible is the unveiled secret of our culture of innovation. This is the essence of the state of Israel as they have succeeded to turning challenges in to opportunities.
Ambassador Ben-Shoshan added that, over the years, the contest has helped to bring people of diverse culture, religious back ground together, stressing the importance and relevance of bible education. Also the contest has inspired and challenged the minds of many Nigerians throughout the country.
The three winners of the competition describe the programme as rewarding and promised to live up to the moral expectations
One of them is Mr Oyare Ayegba, who represented Akwa Ibom State and took the second position shares his experience Today’s experience is wonderful and I’m happy to be among the winners of the contest. The exercise brought me closer and enriched my knowledge of the word of God. The word of God is comforting, a source of encouragement and inspirational.
Going to Israel is a good opportunity for me because, Israel is nation that is fast developing, they have subdue many challenges, and witnessing it firsthand will increase mu experience on how to contribute to the development of this nation by raising people to be morally strong, encourage them to participate in such venture, because when you go closer to the word of God, you get better”. He said.
The event which was organised by the Embassy of Israel in Nigeria, in collaboration with Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Nigeria, CAN and Nigeria Pilgrims Board had one thousand nine participants across the nations.
Twelve of the contestants made it to the grand finale, with the last three getting a ticket to the holy land of Israel by December, 2019 and as guests of honour at the International Bible Contest on December 24, in Jerusalem, Israel.
