The Roller Sports Federation of Nigeria (RSFN) says it is expecting a better sports year in 2017 believing that it will accomplish all that is in its calendar.
The federation’s Technical Chairman, Kings Kedron said: We are planning how skating tournaments will be improved upon and the technical committee had lined up programmes which had been submitted to the association’s management board.
Competition will start in January, but we have yet to have the approval for the exact date and I think before the year runs out, we will secure the approval.
We have the skaters training rigorously at the National Stadium and other centres in the state hoping to participate in the tournament.
The number of interested youths in the sport is growing day by day and
we want to really engage them and keep them in the sport,” he said.
Kedron said that though funding had been the bane of the sport, notwithstanding the association was fully determined to wriggle its way out of the problem.
One major problem we have is the issue of accessing funds, but that will not deter us from our projects. Funds or no funds our programme will go on as planned.
We have participated in some championships in the past and we are happy with the results that we got. The West African Championships at the Republic of Benin went well.
So, for us to keep the momentum, we need to get this programme on as scheduled to have a strong association and a team.
We are aspiring to bring out the best from the little that we have because of the abundant human resources that can do the nation proud,” he said.
