Nigeria startups wins $10,000 Technology exhibition in Dubai

A Nigerian, Abdulhakim Bashir founder of Chiniki Guard a security app startups has emerged winner of the I0 thousand US Dollar prize in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Category at the Super Nova Challenge 2019.

The competition is for startups at the ongoing Gulf Information Technology Exhibition, GITEX, week in Dubai, UAE.

He is a beneficiary of the scholarship programme by the Office of ICT, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, OIIE in Nigeria.

Chiniki Guard is An Artificial Intelligence, AI based security solution for retail stores and supermarkets to monitor, detect, and alert shop owners of shoplifting and suspicious behavior in real time.

It provides real time analyses and reporting for activities going on in a retail store, detect theft and Shopping lifting by analyzing the footage from CCTV camera.

The programme was initiated by the National Information Technogy Development Agency, NITDA in Nigeria through Office of ICT, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, OIIE designed to sponsor and mentor startups to attend and exhibit at the GITEX technology conference in Dubai.

The young Nigerian was selected out of the 108 semi-finalists from different countries placing him among the final 36 competitors.
