Nigeria, Sweden to collaborate on broadband infrastructure development

Nigeria is to partner with Sweden in broadband infrastructure development and capacity building.

The Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC), Professor Umar Danbatta stated this in Abuja Nigeria while granting audience to the Ambassador of Sweden to Nigeria, Mr Carl Michael Grans.

Danbatta said with capacity, Nigeria will be able to generate a critical mass of ICT adoption and use.

He noted that the training of NCC workers will have a multiplier effects that will in turn provide job opportunities and expand the telecoms industry in the country.

Untill our citizens can comfortably use ICT tools, we will continue to push and not relent on the issue of broadband penetration in the country.

Danbatta said if you train the staff of NCC you are going to have a multiplier effect that will in turn raise the level of broadband penetration.

The NCC Boss explained that it’s important intervention that the Nigerian government appreciates ,because there is an important policy of government to lift hundreds of million Nigerians out of poverty in next ten years which will be an average of ten million Nigerians. We hope that the Embassy will continue to facilitate this kind of intervention for Nigeria. Danbatta said .

In his remarks , Ambassador Grans said Sweden will continue to partner with Nigeria not only in the area of ICT Development but also in trade and investment.

I can assure you that the cooperation will continue because this is part of Swedish development aid and it will improve trade and investment between the two countries.He added.
