Tunisia:Nigeria’s men’s volleyball team is set to face Rwanda in a bid to recover from their recent quarter-final defeat to Morocco. The match, part of the African Men’s Volleyball Championship held in Tunisia, will see Nigeria competing in the fifth-to-ninth classification round.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Nigeria’s head coach, Ryan Masajedi, has emphasized the team’s focus on their upcoming game against Rwanda. Despite the disappointment of the 3-2 loss to Morocco, the team is determined to move forward and concentrate on the next challenge.
In their match against Morocco, Nigeria initially took the lead by winning the first set 25-20. However, Morocco fought back, securing the second and third sets with scores of 25-15 and 25-20. Nigeria staged a comeback in the fourth set, winning 26-24, but ultimately fell short in the deciding set, losing 15-12.
The defeat to Morocco dashed Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Nevertheless, Coach Masajedi expressed pride in his players’ performance, particularly their resilience in the fourth set. He acknowledged the significant contribution of the bench in turning the tide during that crucial set.
As Nigeria prepares to face Rwanda, the team is aiming to conclude their championship campaign on a high note in Wednesday’s encounter.
