Nigeria is set to establish a match-making database for international business inter-connectivity and stress-free investments with the country’s 119 diplomatic missions abroad serving as one-stop centres, says Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the initiative would enable Nigeria’s products and investors to access world markets more easily and would also enable foreign investors to gain unfettered access to informed and genuine information concerning business opportunities in Nigeria.
The minister explained that the scheme would be implemented through a matching-making database aimed at promoting exports and enhancing inflows of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and formed part of a design for economic diplomacy as a framework to address the severe economic challenges facing Nigeria.
He added that Nigeria had diplomatic representations in 119 countries and the ministry could leverage on this advantage to deliver concrete economic benefit to the nation.
He said all the information needed about what local businesses wanted to export and investment types would be readily available in all the 119 countries where Nigeria has a presence.
