Nigerians urged to pray for the nation

Nigerians have been urged to pray for the nation, president Buhari and other leaders.

Rev Isaac Komolafe, Northern Region Coordinator, Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, gave the charge at a prayer vigil organssed by the church in Abuja.

The prayer vigil tagged Reversing the irreversible was principally to pray for Nigeria.

He said that the theme was based on 2nd King chapter 2:16, where there was a problem in a country just as it is in Nigeria right now and the people turned a man of God for prayers and God reversed their situations.

Rev. Komolafe said one of the cardinal doctrines of the Foursquare Gospel Church is the belief in civil government. We know that our country is going through some challenges. We need to pray. And that’s why we are gathered here.

Restructuring Nigeria

He said that a proper restructuring was needed to correct the wrongs in the society.

One of the things we believe should be done, we need restructure properly, not for the sentiment of today but for a better Nigeria tomorrow. As a Church, we believe in restructuring he said.

He said that the Church is praying for the President for good health and the acting president for God to grant him wisdom in running the affairs of the nation.

We are praying for the three arms of government to work together in unity for the good of this country. Each of them cannot make a government. God will help them come together as one, he prayed.

Secession of Nigeria

Rev. Komolafe said that the time for Nigeria to break up has passed.

He said those who are clamouring for the division of the country do not know what they are saying.

We don’t believe we can break up. There’s strength in number. Also there’s greatness in diversity. Our strength is in our diversity, we must not see that as a problem. All we need to know is to understand differences and find the way to be able to work along and make this country a great nation. As one nation our number is very huge and we need that for economic purpose and every other reason we need to be together, he stated.

He said that those things Nigeria needs at this point in time, would definitely be achieved through prayers.

Our only hope and strength is in our prayers. As we continue to pray, God will resolve all difficulties he said.

The Reverend who is also the president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, also called on Christians in government to live exemplary lives that honour God by shunning corruption and other societal evils.
