NLC cautions against politicizing funds approved for fighting insurgency

A member of the National Executive of the Nigerian Labour Congress, (NLC), Comrade Issa Aremu says the politicization of the one billion Naira approval for the army against Boko Haram insurgency and violent crimes across the country is unnecessary.

Comrade Aremu noted that the security agencies particularly the military and police must be well equipped to combat crime in the country.

The NLC boss opined that Nigerians must insist that the security agencies should be accountable for all the resources made available to them.

He also suggested that there should be sanctions for non performing security agencies and reward for all security agencies that protect lives and properties.

Reacting to the robbery incident that took place on Thursday at Offa where many people were killed including policemen, Comrade Aremu decried that Nigeria lacked governance with respect to security of lives and properties as contained in the 1999 constitution.

The Labour leader commemorated with the Olofa of Offa, the government and people of Kwara state over the armed robbery attack, stressing that the incident had undermined the ease of living.

Comrade Aremu implored the police to fish out the criminals and ensure that they face justice, he also called for adequate compensation for the victims of the robbery attack as well as the slain police personnel.
