Normal activities are going on at the Presidential Villa, Nigeria’s seat of power despite reports in some sections of the media that the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari has tested positive for COVID-19
No official confirmation yet on the matter, as the reports also say President Muhammadu Buhari has tested negative.
Meanwhile, President Buhari is in the office attending to normal official functions. He is billed to receive the Governors of Katsina and Kaduna States at 12:00 GMT.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is also at work as usual.
However, it is obvious that the Chief of Staff is not at work, as his two parking lots at the Villa car park are empty.
Reports say ”he is self-isolating and closely being monitored by the Nigeria Centre for disease Control NCDC.”
Similarly, his wing, which is always busy, is almost empty as there are no movements around the area and his office staff have been advised to self-isolate but no test has been conducted on any of them, till they show any symptom of the disease.
The Special Adviser to the President Femi Adesina and his Senior Special Assistant Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu were not available at the time of writing this report, to comment on the issue.
State House Correspondents are desperate, as they await an official statement on the matter.
