NPFL: Warri Wolves Beat Enyimba FC 2-1 in Aba


Abuja: Warri Wolves on Sunday defeated Enyimba International Football Club of Aba 2-1 in the match day nine encounter in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in Aba.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the defeat marked a consecutive loss for the Aba team, as they were previously defeated 1-0 by Kun Kahlifat of Owerri in the match day eight game in Owerri. The match against Warri Wolves took place at the Enyimba International Stadium, where an own goal by Mohammed Hussain of Enyimba put Warri Wolves ahead in the 16th minute.



The home crowd was briefly lifted when Edidiong Ezekiel scored an equaliser for Enyimba in the 26th minute, bringing the score to 1-1 at halftime. Both teams returned to the field with renewed determination, but it was Warri Wolves’ Tejiri Emonena who clinched the victory with a decisive goal from a corner kick.



With the win, Warri Wolves advanced to sixth position in the league standings with 14 points, while Enyimba International FC dropped to ninth position with 13 points after nine matches. Warri Wolves’ Captain, Seth Maji, expressed satisfaction with the result, stating that the team was well-prepared and followed the coach’s instructions, which alleviated pressure and allowed them to perform effectively.



In contrast, Enyimba International FC did not participate in the post-match interview, leaving journalists waiting for Coach Stanley Eguma and his captain.
