The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC boss task officers and men to demonstrate professionalism in their conduct in the forthcoming general elections in order to guarantee hitch free polls.
The Kaduna State Commandant, Alhaji Modu Bunu, in a statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna, urged them to be transparent and shun any form of inducement.
Bunu stated that all of them will be responsible for their actions or inactions while on the field.
The charge was given after a crucial management meeting held at the command's headquarters for Head of Departments, Unit, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers.
According to the statement, The action became necessary to dispel allegations that government agencies appear to compromise their duties, judging from their body language.
On the contrary, as security agents, we all have a duty to
ensure level playing field for all political actors. There is every need to demonstrate this by creating conducive security environment before, during and after the polls.
Both local and International observers are looking unto us as critical and major stakeholders in 2019 elections and we must do our best to shun any temptation which may jeopardize the trust.
The Commandant urged them to work assiduously and professionally to justify the confidence reposed in us.
As part of strategies, I have directed the deployment of personnel numbering over 3600 for the elections to all nooks and crannies of the State.
The statement quoted Bunu to have said, operatives comprising officers and men who are to work in synergy with other sister agencies, are expected to provide general security for the electorates, officials and materials.
Other duties shall include escort, security at INEC offices located in the State capital, local governments, collation centres and polling units. To achieve success of the National assignment, all patrol vehicles, ambulances, motorcycles shall be deployed to complement efforts of personnel who may be stationed at different locations, Bunu stated.
He added that, pre-election arrangements are being intensified and the tempo will be maintained during and after polls.
The Commandant therefore urged all the electorates of the state to obliged and partner with the corps in order to deliver as expected.
