In a proactive effort to combat deforestation at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, the state secretariat has planted 1,600 trees.
This massive tree planting exercise was spearheaded by the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Onifade Joshua, who described the exercise as a major step to recover the lost forest in the orientation camp.
According to him, deforestation is fast becoming a major challenge in our society and the earlier we combat it, the better for all and sundry.
He added that the tree planting exercise involved Corps members and the camp officials.
The NYSC boss stressed that it is worthy to note that the Corps members have even formed Forestation Vanguard, which will take the gospel of tree planting to every nook and cranny of the State.
