Commonwealth Champion, Shola Olowookere has won a Bronze in the Male -68kg category at the on-going African Taekwondo Championships.
This year’s championships which is being staged in Agadir, Morocco, is between 27 � 30 March 2018.
In his first international appearance since winning the Commonwealth Taekwondo Championships in 2014, the 21-year old Olowookere defeated Ethiopia’s Musa Hassen 28 � 10 in the Round of 16.
He also beat Cote D’Ivoire’s Peken Logbo 16 � 2 in the quarter-finals before losing to Niger Republic’s USA-based Ismael Yacouba 12 � 17 in the semi-finals.
Another contender for Nigeria is Nwosu, Ajayi who will be taking the stage on Friday March 30.
Nigeria’s other two competitors in the event are African Silver Medalist Chinazum Nwosu and international debutant, Ifeoluwa Ajayi, who will be competing tomorrow in the female -53kg and male -63kg category respectively.
All the three competitors are also expected to take part in the World Taekwondo President Cup Africa, taking place between March 31st and 1 April in the same venue.
The athletes are being coached by one of the National Coaches, John Victor.
Also joining them for the President Cup Africa will be Commonwealth Gold Medallist, USA-based Isah Adamu Abubakar, who was recently awards an IOC scholarship for Tokyo 2020 Olympics and will be competing in the male -63kg.
