The former governor of Oyo state and gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the state, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala has declared that he has not defected from the ADP.
Chief Alao-Akala, who made this known on Friday evening, said that although he is working with the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the state, Chief Bayo Adelabu, to ensure his success in the March 9 gubernatorial election, he is still with his party, the ADP.
While speaking at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, he stated that, I remain in ADP and all our candidates for the House of Assembly seats will stand the March 9th elections on the platform of the ADP with my full support but I will work for the victory of Bayo Adelabu.
He was reportedly leading an alliance between opposition parties ADP, African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) against the ruling APC and had promised that all the opposition parties would do everything to put an end to the rule of the APC in the state. However, the intervention of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other national leaders made him to change his mind.
Alao-Akala left the APC last October to join the ADP and picked the governorship ticket of the party.
