Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday declared that the State government would immortalise the late Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr Kehinde Ayoola.
The Governor made the disclosure during a Special Valedictory Executive Council session held in honour of the late former Lawmaker.
While extolling the virtues of Ayoola, the Governor pledged to personally take responsibility for the sponsorship of the educational pursuit of the deceased’s children up to any level they would wish.
He said the State government remained united with the family in bearing the loss, adding that the late commissioner was a loyal and dedicated friend who had moved with him from one political platform to another since he conceived the ambition of becoming the Governor of Oyo state some years back.
Makinde noted, “We are all united in this loss. Who are we to question God? The State will definitely immortalize him in the days to come. But for me, personally, from this moment on, the children are my responsibility till they are done with their schooling. Wherever they want to go in any corner of the world, in search of knowledge and education, they are my responsibility. “
The Secretary to the State government (SSG), Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun, the Head of Service, Mrs Amidat Agboola, and some other members of the State Executive Council had, in emotion-laden speeches, eulogized the late Commissioner for his brilliance, commitment to duty and purposeful doggedness.
Speaking on behalf of the deceased’s family, the twin sister to the deceased, Taiwo, appreciated the various tributes from members of the State Executive Council, and noted that such encouragement would strengthen the family’s emotional capacity.
Ayoola, a former speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, died last week Thursday in Ibadan, after a brief illness.
