PDP apology hypocritical -Minister

The dramatic apology tendered by Nigeria’s former ruling Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, for its abuse of power in the over sixteen years in government is hypocritical and mischievous with the intention of swaying unsuspecting Nigerians.

Rather, the party should return all funds and properties stolen by its members whilst it was running the affairs of government.

Minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed said this in an interactive session with newsmen in Lagos during the Easter break.

The Minister described the opposition party’s act of contrition as hollow.

We insist that Nigeria was looted blind under the watch of the PDP and that the starting point in tendering an apology is for them to return the loot. We will not stop talking about the massive looting by the PDP, they brought Nigeria to this sorry pass, he said.

The Minister further named some members of the former ruling party who were on the list of corrupt individuals compiled by the present government to include the current Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, former Financial Secretary, Bolaji Akpan Anani, immediate past spokesperson of the party, Olisa Metuh and others who are standing trial for stealing funds belonging to the Nigerian government.
