Plateau Governor condemns blames on killings

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong says blame games on the killings in the state must stop.

He has therefore called for collaboration by all stakeholders to end the menace.

The Governor made the call while speaking to State House Correspondents, after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.

We are all concerned about the killings. I will not say Plateau's case is exceptional but it is the current one that is bringing everybody together. This issue of killings must stop. Even yesterday when I organized prayers for the repose of the souls of those who died in the recent crisis, I told those who attended that it is no longer time for blame games, he stated.

The governor said it was the time to be united and chase out the evil confronting the state by being more focussed and putting the perpetrators to shame.

He said the next step was to look for ways to punish whoever was involved to reinforce Justice and equity in the state.

Lalong, who said the issue of land grabbing is not the main cause of the crisis, also said he would sign some amended laws of the State next week.

I don't think land grabbing is the main reason behind the crisis. But of course, anywhere people are chased away, government must make arrangement to rehabilitate and bring them to their place.

So if the purpose of some people is to take the land, government should discourage that.

He gave an assurance that there won't be land grabbing in the state again as there would be punitive measures in place to check further crisis.
