Awka-Anambra State Police Command has arrested four suspects and recovered a motorcycle and telephone allegedly snatched from a victim after slashing off his right ear with knife.
Police Public Relations Officer, S P Haruna Mohammed said the force operatives burst the motorcycle snatching syndicate at Nri, Anaocha, Local Government Area.
A statement released by Mohammed confirmed that “on June 1, at about 1:30pm, said that following a distress call, Police operatives attached to Neni Division in collaboration with vigilance group, arrested four robbery suspects, who specialised in snatching motorcycles within the Nri-Neni axis.
The suspects are as follows: “Francis Ezeibekwe ‘m’, age 22 from Ikenga Village, Adazi-Ani, Ndubuisi Kaliaozor ‘m’, aged 20, of Agbadama Village, Nri, Ugoji Chibuzor ‘m’, aged 19 of Uruofolo Village, Nri and Elochukwu Anyaoke ‘m’, aged 29 from Umuowelle Village.
“They were arrested at their hideout in the bush at Nri by Neni, Anaocha LGA after allegedly robbing one Nnamdi Ebegbe of his motorcycle, Top-Star, with registration number, NSK 426 QJ, a mobile telephone and an unspecified amount of money; they slashed part of his right ear with a knife.
“Meanwhile, exhibits recovered from the suspects include a cutlass, the motorcycle and a mobile telephone belonging to the victim.
“The case is under investigation after, which the suspects will be taken to court.
“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, CP John Abang, has cautioned motorcycle/keke riders in the state to be wary of such syndicates in order not to fall victims,’’ the statement added.
