Police parades kidnappers and armed bandits in Katsina

The Katsina state Police Command, North Western Nigeria has paraded suspects in connection with various crime ranging from robbery, armed banditry and kidnapping.

The suspects who were paraded with their weapons confessed to have been carrying out such operations.

While parading the suspect, the Katsina Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah said some of the suspects were arrested by the Operation Puff Adder that were recently launched by the Acting Inspectors General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu to flush out kidnapping and armed banditry in the country.

SP Isah noted that the success were recorded when the combined team of Operation Puff Adder who were deployed to Dandume local government area of Katsina state while on routine patrol along Dandume-Birni Gwari road of Kaduna state.

Outlawed Yansakai group

The Katsina state Police PRO announced that some of the criminals arrested along the axis to include one Abubakar Adamu, aged 35years, Surajo Isah aged 28 years and Naziru Ibrahim aged 24 years old all of Layi Dan- Auta, Kuyillo village, Birni Gwari Local government of Kaduna state.

He stated that the three suspects arrested along the axis were in possession of two locally made revolver guns with ten round of 9.6mm live ammunition.

SP Isah said the suspects have also confessed to be members of outlawed Yansakai group terrorizing Dandume � Birni Gwari areas.

The PRO further explained that the Command has also succeeded in arresting some notorious members for kidnapping. They are: Ada’u Lawal aged 35yrs and Adamu Nasiru popularly known as Bayaro aged 25yrs of Yakasai village, Kurfi local government of Katsina state.

They are the remaining suspects on the wanted list of kidnappers that participated in the kidnapping of one Hajiya Habiba aged 65yrs of Yargaimji village of Bataragarawa LGA of Katsina state on 29/03/2019 and demanded the payment of ransom of fifteen million Naira ( 15,000,000:00k) for her release.

On 13/05/2019 the Command succeeded in busting and arresting a notorious syndicate of armed robbery suspects that have been terrorizing Mani LGA of Katsina state. On 26/04/2019 the syndicate armed with dangerous weapons attacked the residence of one Yusha’u Mansur of Yantsari village, Mani LGA of Katsina state and robbed him of money the sum of N580,000:00k and inflicting injuries on him, he explained further.

SP Isah also revealed to newsmen that in the course of investigation one of the suspect abandoned his phone and through which the Police were able to trace and arrest some of the members of the syndicate.

According to the Katsina Police spokesman Sani Lado aged 33yrs of Rumawa village, Mani LGA of Katsina. Adamu Hamisu aged 39yrs of Bagiwa village Mani LGA and Kabir Lawal aged 38yrs of Bagiwa Mani. Suspects confessed to the commission of the offence. One locally made pistol was recovered in his possession. Four empty shells of AK47 rifle ammunition was recovered on his possession.

He hinted that also arrested were four women who were serving as informants, cooks and prostitutes that are assisting the kidnappers and armed bandits with information.

One of the informants Zulai Dahiru, aged 45yrs who spoke to Voice of Nigeria in Hausa confessed to be assisting the kidnappers and armed bandits in cooking and providing them with useful information.

Among the informants arrested also included, Razikat Amadi, Rakiya Yusuf (20yrs), Bilkisu Abubakar (20yrs).

Also arrested was Shaibu Abubakar who supplies them with food items and petroleum products.
