Abuja: The Nigeria Police Force has called for partnership with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in promoting its image. The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of NAN, Malam Ali Muhammad Ali.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Hundeyin expressed his intention to collaborate with the agency to improve the public perception of the police. He emphasized the importance of engaging with the public and media to boost the force’s image. Hundeyin highlighted his own background in journalism, acknowledging the extensive reach of NAN in disseminating information. He assured that the police would foster a mutually beneficial relationship with NAN and welcomed future collaboration.
In response, Ali commended Hundeyin for his proactive approach and congratulated him on his recent appointment. He noted a gradual improvement in public perception of the Nigeria Police Force since Hundeyin assumed his role, attributing it to his effective public engagement. Ali emphasized the importance of having a responsive police spokesperson to reshape the force’s image and pledged NAN’s support in this endeavor.
Ali also remarked on the necessity for the police to maintain strong relations with the media, as journalists rely on accessible information to perform their duties. He encouraged continued collaboration and assured that NAN would contribute to efforts aimed at fostering a positive view of the police force.
Additionally, Mr Mufutau Ojo, NAN’s Editor-In-Chief, provided an overview of the agency’s extensive presence, with offices in 34 states across Nigeria, its headquarters in Abuja, and a directorate in Lagos. He mentioned NAN’s international reach with bureaus in New York, Johannesburg, and Abidjan, along with partnerships with major international news agencies.
