President Tinubu Approves 100km Lagos-Calabar Highway Through Edo

Benin city: President Bola Tinubu has approved a 100-kilometre section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway to traverse Edo State, marking a significant development in the Niger Delta region. The announcement was made by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, during the State Independence gala night held at the State Villa in Benin City, Edo State capital.

According to Voice of Nigeria, the Works Minister stated that the President instructed him to ensure the highway project extends from Lagos through Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River. Umahi emphasized President Tinubu’s dedication to the quality and timely completion of ongoing projects, despite challenges related to infrastructure and funding inherited from previous administrations.

Umahi also praised the State Governor for agreeing to address some critical sections of the Benin-Sapele-Warri Road, which had become hazardous for motorists. The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, expressed gratitude to the President for including Edo in the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project and acknowledged improvements on federal roads in the State since Tinubu’s administration began.

Governor Okpebholo urged the people of Edo to support the President’s re-election campaign in 2027.
