President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leader of Nigeria, has affirmed his administration’s commitment to aiding the victims of the flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The President pledged on Monday while addressing victims of the flood disaster at the camp of the Internally Displaced Persons located in Government Secondary School, Maiduguri, Borno State.
President Tinubu reassured the Borno citizens of his support while he identified with the humanitarian challenges further exacerbated by the flood crisis.
‘We will support you,’ the President said.
President Tinubu was accompanied to the Maiduguri IDP camp by the Chairman of the National Assembly, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Chairman of Nigeria’s Governors Forum, Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrazak Abdulraham, Governor Bala Mohammed, Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Mele Kyari, Senator representing Borno North, Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Minister of Agriculture and food security, Abubakar Kari,All Progressives Cong

President Tinubu while he departed from the IDP camp, proceeded to the Shehu of Borno’s palace, Abubakar Garba Ibn Umar Al Amin Elkanemi, One of the major places heavily affected by the flood induced by the overflow of Lau Dam.
The September 10 floods caused damage to schools, hospitals, government offices, banks and commercial areas, markets, a zoo, worship centres, homes, and prisons.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed 37 deaths and 58 injuries in the flood-related incidents.
The authority said over one million people have been affected by the flood, with 414,000 more displaced.
The floods also caused Maiduguri’s worst flooding since the same dam Lau collapsed 30 years ago.
