Post: President Tinubu Praises Former Governor Fayose’s Political Resilience on 65th Birthday

Abuja: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised former Ekiti State Governor, Peter Fayose, as a formidable force in Nigerian politics, acknowledging his courage, consistency, and grassroots connection which have sustained his political relevance for over two decades.

According to Voice of Nigeria, in a personal tribute marking Fayose’s 65th birthday, President Tinubu reminisced about Fayose’s rise to national prominence in 2003, during Tinubu’s second term as Governor of Lagos State. He noted that Fayose has continued to wield considerable influence in Ekiti State and beyond.

The President highlighted Fayose’s remarkable political comeback in 2014, describing it as a testament to his resilience and courage amidst adversity. Tinubu remarked on the challenges Fayose faced during his first term as governor, which was marred by the abuse of presidential powers, yet praised Fayose’s enduring strength and ability to overcome such hurdles.

Tinubu further acknowledged Fayose’s accomplishments in office, citing significant improvements in road infrastructure, education, and healthcare. He also mentioned the establishment of facilities like the State High Court Complex and a new governor’s office as part of Fayose’s legacy.

President Tinubu emphasized the strong relationship he shares with Fayose, a grassroots politician known as Osokomole and Ore Mekunnu (friend of the poor). Tinubu praised Fayose’s fearlessness and consistency, noting his ability to stand by his convictions regardless of public opinion.

In his concluding remarks, President Tinubu extended his best wishes to Fayose on his 65th birthday, praying for his good health and greater purpose in service to God and humanity.
