Abuja: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emphasized the importance of leveraging Nigeria’s longstanding partnerships with France, China, and Denmark to foster mutual economic benefits for citizens, focusing on vital sectors such as education, health, and infrastructure. He assured an expansion of economic diplomacy during a ceremony at the State House where he received Letters of Credence from the Ambassadors of France, Denmark, and China.
According to Voice of Nigeria, President Tinubu is set to undertake a state visit to France, where he expressed to the French Ambassador, Marc Fonbaustier, his intention to solidify diplomatic ties and ensure that the positive impacts of these relations are felt by the citizens of both countries. The President called for French support in Nigeria’s ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening institutions and improving citizens’ livelihoods.
During his meeting with the French Ambassador, Tinubu highlighted his longstanding friendship with French President Emmanuel Macron, emphasi
zing the significance of collaboration for Nigeria, ECOWAS, and the broader African continent. Ambassador Fonbaustier commended President Tinubu’s achievements and expressed his commitment to enhancing the partnership for shared economic prosperity.
In discussions with the Chinese Ambassador, Yu Dunhai, President Tinubu expressed gratitude to the President of China, Xi Jinping, for hosting him during his State visit to Beijing and participation in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He urged the Chinese envoy to work closely with Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to implement agreements that were signed, particularly those concerning trade and economic progress.
The Chinese Ambassador praised the success of President Tinubu’s visit and emphasized the importance of elevating bilateral relations. He also announced the initiation of programs in Nigeria focused on improving agricultural yields, providing mobile medical outreach, and fostering educational exchange programs to enhance vocational and techni
cal skills.
President Tinubu also met with the Danish Ambassador, Jens Ole Bach Hansen, expressing enthusiasm for strengthening relations, particularly in promoting democratic values and human rights. He acknowledged the progress of Danish investments in Nigeria, such as the APM terminal in Lagos, and expressed interest in collaborations in education, healthcare, and other sectors that directly impact citizens’ livelihoods.
The Danish Ambassador highlighted Denmark’s new strategy to improve relations with Africa, with Nigeria playing a central role due to its size and influence. He reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to cooperating with Nigeria, especially in trade and economic development.
