Abuja: The PROMAD Infotech Foundation has unveiled a 2026-2030 organisational strategy and four-year roadmap aimed at scaling up evidence-based civic technology solutions to deepen citizen participation. Mr. Daisi Omokungbe, Founder and Executive Director of PROMAD, disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the strategy aims to strengthen accountability and promote sustainable development. Omokungbe emphasized that the plan would build on PROMAD’s experience in civic innovation, expanding the use of technology, data, and artificial intelligence to make governance more responsive, transparent, and inclusive. PROMAD is a civic innovation non-profit organisation committed to enhancing digital futures and advancing citizen participation, accountability, and transparency in governance, dedicated to bridging the gap between grassroots communities and government.
Omokungbe stated that a major target of the new strategy is to institutionalise participatory budgeting and subnational public project tracking in 10 to 15 states across Nigeria. This initiative will leverage platforms developed by PROMAD, including ‘FollowTheProjects’ and ‘Isunawa AI’ (Our Budget), which use technology and data to help citizens assess community needs, monitor budget implementation, and track public project status.
The strategic priorities include strengthening digital governance through expanded digital platforms and interactive dashboards for citizen engagement in budgeting, election oversight, and policymaking at national and subnational levels. PROMAD also plans to scale participatory democracy models, including hybrid citizens’ town halls, fellowships, and community-led needs assessments, particularly following local government autonomy reforms.
Capacity building is another focus, with training and mentorship programs targeting youths, women, persons with disabilities, civil society organisations, and subnational officials. These programs will cover social accountability, digital skills, artificial intelligence and data literacy, policy advocacy, entrepreneurship, and organisational development.
PROMAD will advance transparency and open-data initiatives to establish stronger feedback mechanisms between citizens and government institutions. The organisation aims to promote inclusive participation by ensuring marginalised and underrepresented groups have a greater role in determining development priorities in areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and climate action.
The strategy also includes fostering collaborative governance through partnerships with donor organisations, development partners, government agencies, and the private sector. PROMAD plans to develop digital systems, conduct research, and produce civic education content to mobilise Nigerians for civic participation, electoral engagement, and legislative processes.
Looking beyond Nigeria, the strategy outlines the expansion of PROMAD’s civic technology solutions and participatory governance models to other African countries by 2030. Omokungbe noted that the organisation’s work aligns with local, national, regional, and international development frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
PROMAD called for partnerships to implement the 2026-2030 strategy, indicating that broad-based collaboration and shared investment would help expand civic technology solutions and institutionalise participatory governance practices across states and local governments. Investment in the strategy will leverage artificial intelligence, data analytics, and community mobilisation to improve public resource planning, allocation, and monitoring.
Omokungbe concluded by stating, “Our civic technology products are not merely about platforms; they’re about redistributing power, enhancing transparency, and enabling inclusive, data-driven governance that delivers tangible results for communities and citizens. With this strategy, we are committing to scale proven approaches so that every citizen, especially youth and women, regardless of location or background, can meaningfully shape the decisions that affect their daily lives.
