Awka-Director, Public Service Office (PSO), Mr Adebayo Ojeyinka says the Public Service Buses will not operate in the meantime.

This is aimed at curtailing the spread of COVID-19 scourge through the bus.

Ojeyinka said this while being interviewed by an Information Officer at his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.

He noted that in line with the directive of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on social distancing in the face of COVID-19, the operation of staff buses were withdrawn so as to avert cases of the pandemic.

He added that security agents had been stationed at the state’s secretariat to enforce wearing of face masks, so as to ensure safety of all.

Ojeyinka stressed that the current global pandemic and the recent gradual easing of the lockdown in the state, left secretariat with no option than to maintain one central entry and exist point for all workers.

“The government has provided some equipment for the prevention of the disease, including thermometer, buckets for washing hands and sanitising kits,’’ he said.
