Race for Vihiga Gubernatorial Contest Intensifies

Vihiga: Emuhaya Member of Parliament Omboko Milemba has warned candidates eyeing the Vihiga gubernatorial seat to brace for an epic battle during the 2027 general election. Milemba, who is also the national chairman of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), said it will not be a walk in the park for his competitors, as he will be launching a robust campaign to clinch the coveted seat.

According to Kenya News Agency, speaking during the burial ceremony of businessman Stanley Suguvi at Mbihi primary school, Milemba challenged his main rival, former Chavakali high school principal Kahi Indimuli, to be prepared for a fierce battle during the polls. The MP, who hails from the Banyore clan, dismissed calls by Indimuli that he should go for any other elective seat, arguing that leadership should not be pegged on rotational basis along sub-clan lines, but on competence and public trust.

Indimuli had earlier maintained that other sub-clans deserved a chance at the county’s top leadership, noting that the Banyore community had held the local governorship position for two consecutive terms. Meanwhile, the local administration has urged youth in the area to turn up in large numbers during the upcoming national police service and the Kenya Defences Forces recruitment exercise across the country.

Mbihi sub-location assistant Chief Sammy Kegoye assured the youth that the recruitment would be free and fair, urging them to shun the perception that such processes are marred by corruption.
