The Deputy Speaker, Nigeria House of Representatives has formally joined the race to contest governorship election in Osun State.
Mr Lasun Yussuff made the declaration on Thursday in Osogbo, the state capital.
He said he was the man for the job and promised to perform credibly well if given the opportunity to govern the state, stressing that he had been a loyal party member.
The Deputy Speaker promised to generate more employment opportunities by leveraging on the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES) established by Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
I will ensure that the OYES scheme is backed by legislation in the state. I will also pursue massive skill acquisition training in the education sector, embark on agriculture revolution and improve on the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.
I am not just struggling to be governor for the sake of it, rather, I want to be the governor because I have the requisite experience and the needed exposure. The people of Osun state are waiting for me because I am the one the cap fits and I will not disappoint them, he said.
While recognising the fact that Mr Yussuff possess the political exposure and relevant experience to govern the state, the party chairman, Mr Gboyega Famodun enjoined the aspirant to play politics with humility.
If it is the will of God for you to be the governor, so be it, but one thing that is sure is that, only one person will pick the party's ticket for the election.
27 aspirants under the platform of APC have so far expressed intention to contest the yet to be fixed party's primaries ahead of the September 22 gubernatorial election.
