By iquo williams: The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has pledged to accelerate development projects and restore governance following the end of the six-month emergency rule imposed on the state on the 18th of March.
According to Voice of Nigeria, in a statewide broadcast on Friday, Fubara said the political crisis that disrupted governance had been peacefully resolved through the intervention of President Bola Tinubu, who brokered reconciliation among all major stakeholders.
The Governor assured Rivers people that his administration would focus on completing ongoing projects in infrastructure, healthcare, and education, while ensuring none of them was neglected. ‘Our immediate responsibility is to return to the path of governance and development by completing the projects we started and reviving our economy,’ he said.
He noted that the state had endured difficult times under emergency rule, but said the lessons learned would strengthen its democratic institutions. According to him, ‘peace and stability have once again returned to Rivers State, and it is our duty to ensure that it remains permanent.’
Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to work harmoniously with the Rivers State House of Assembly to fast-track social and economic advancement. He also promised to run an inclusive administration that would carry all groups along, regardless of political affiliation.
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for restoring democratic governance, and also thanked FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, the National Assembly leadership, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths, and women groups for supporting the peace process. The Governor hailed the patience and resilience of citizens during the six-month period, assuring them that governance would now prioritize their welfare and security.
‘Our diversity is our greatest asset, and our unity the strongest guarantee of our future,’ he said. Governor Fubara called for unity, urging all Rivers people to join hands in building a peaceful and prosperous state anchored on trust and development.
