Orozo:The Convener of the Safe and Secured Nigeria Group, Musa Mohammed, has criticized the glorification, financing, and support of terrorists, bandits, and other violent criminal groups. This stance was announced during a Peace and Development Rally organized by the group in Orozo, Federal Capital Territory.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mohammed emphasized that Nigerians cannot advocate for peace while simultaneously praising or backing entities that terrorize innocent citizens. He called for a nationwide rejection of the glorification and financing of criminal activities.
Mohammed urged citizens to report any suspicious movements and activities to security agencies rather than confronting armed groups themselves. He highlighted the importance of community involvement in security, stating that residents are often the first to notice such activities.
He cautioned against taking the law into one’s own hands and encouraged cooperation with the military, police, civil defense, and other security agencies. Mohammed also praised the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, and the Armed Forces for their dedication to protecting the nation under challenging conditions.
In his address, Mohammed stressed the importance of protecting youths from recruitment into criminal and violent groups and emphasized their potential role in building peaceful communities. He called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, and youth leaders to identify and address emerging tensions early to prevent the escalation of conflicts.
He concluded by stating that peace and security are vital for development and urged Nigerians to remain united and collaborate with security agencies to create safer communities. The rally in Orozo is part of a broader peace campaign by the group, with similar events held in several other locations, including Lagos, Shagamu, Yenagoa, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Keffi, and Agbor.
