Uyo:Akwa Ibom: Seplat Energy and NNPC Limited have initiated a one-week eye care outreach program for residents of Akwa Ibom.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Sen. Udoma Udoma, Chairman of Seplat Energy, highlighted that this initiative is part of their efforts to positively impact the lives of host communities. He noted that similar health programs have been previously implemented in Edo, Delta, and Imo states.
The program aims to address the immediate health needs of the community by providing services that support learning, work, independence, and dignity through improved vision. Seplat Energy is committed to contributing positively to the development of its host communities, with a focus on respect, transparency, and consistent performance in its relationships.
In collaboration with their joint venture partner, NNPC Limited, Seplat Energy views social investment as an essential aspect of responsible business operations. The company is dedicated to working with credible partners to deliver programs that respond to identified needs and provide lasting benefits.
Governor Umo Eno, represented by Deputy Sen. Akon Eyakenyi, expressed gratitude for the eye care program, stating that it aligns with the administration’s ARISE Agenda and contributes to promoting healthy lives and well-being.
Mr. Effiong Okon, CEO of Seplat Energy, announced that the program would start in Uyo and later extend to Eket and Ibono Local Government Areas. The initiative includes free eye screenings, treatments, reading glasses, and sight-restoring surgeries, along with screenings for other conditions to ensure early detection.
