Awka-Special Adviser to the Governor on Disability Matters, Mr Chuks Ezewuzie has urged staff members of his office to come up with their a list of games and the right attitude as work commences fully in the state after the Yuletide season.
In a speech during a staff members’ first staff meeting in the New Year on Jan.11 at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, he praised God for the privilege to see the New Year.
Ezewuzie emphasised the need for staff members to have the right attitude to work if they must excel in any task given to them.
“For you to perform excellently, you must have the right perception, the right connection and the right reflections.
“If you have the right perception, you won’t see your job as merely that of the government but rather you will put in your best to work religiously for upliftment of the state.
“If you have the right connections, you will function maximally to achieve optimally,’’ Ezewuzie stressed.
“If you have the right reflections, your thoughts will be established and your steps will be directed.
“I look forward to seeing the best from all of you; be dedicated to your duties and show the World The Diaspora standards that I have inculcated in you.
“This year, eliminate disobedience, dishonesty, collusion and cover ups,’’ Ezewuzie concluded.
In his own remark, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Disability Service and also Coordinator of Operations in the office, Mr Ugochukwu Ernest Okeke enjoined the staff members to always bear in mind that it was their duty to serve the disability community in Anambra State and do it with every sense of humility.
“I want all of us here to step up our game and bring in new ideas that will bring the best results in our various duty posts.
“There won’t be room for excuses or cover ups and subsequently dedicated staff members shall be rewarded at the end of the year,’’ Mr Okeke explained.
Some of the key things that happened include an unveiling of new committees to be constituted by the office in conjunction with Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities (JONAPWD) Anambra State Chapter.
The committees are Employment Advocacy Team (EAT) to meet the employment challenges of PWDS in the state, School Admission Team (SAT) to address the problems that PWDS face during the admission process.
There will also be a Worship House Accessibility Team (WHAT) to ensure that worship centres in Anambra State will be disability friendly.
