Sport can act as a “catalyst” for change and can help to build consensus where disharmony exists; that’s according to the Foreign Minister of The Netherlands.
Bert Koenders was speaking at a sport for peace and development event at United Nations Headquarters in New York hosted by the Dutch and Zambian missions to the UN.
The event brought together celebrated former footballers from Africa and Europe, including Nigeria’s Nwankwo Kanu and The Netherlands’ Frank Rijkaard.
Daniel Dickinson asked Mr Koenders why it’s important to bring footballers together in this way.
