Sultan of Sokoto Pledges Traditional Leaders’ Support for Security Agencies

Sokoto: The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has committed the support of traditional rulers to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and other military forces to aid in their operational success. This pledge was made during a courtesy visit by Group Captain Jane Gimo, the newly deployed NAF Commander in charge of the 119 Composite Group Sokoto.

According to Voice of Nigeria, Sultan Abubakar called upon the NAF leader to enhance operational efforts within the region and across the country to ensure security. He highlighted that while challenges are a part of any society, more effort is required to achieve lasting peace in the region. The Sultan commended the Nigerian Air Force for its significant efforts in addressing security issues, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a strong working relationship between the Sultanate Council and security agencies.

During the visit, Group Captain Gimo expressed the purpose of seeking royal blessings and emphasized the need for ongoing collaboration with the Sultanate Council, acknowledging its role as a custodian of societal safety. Captain Gimo assured the Sultan of continued synergy with the Sultanate Council, state government, and other agencies to protect citizens’ lives. He praised the Sultan for his exemplary leadership and moral guidance to the Armed Forces.

Captain Gimo also informed the Sultan of the NAF’s impending move to a permanent location along Airport Road in Sokoto. He noted that this relocation would enhance operational capacity, improve air strike capabilities, and provide better support for ground troops engaged in counter-banditry operations throughout the region.
