Awka-To sustain the fight against gender-based violence, women in general must stay committed to the course of spirited efforts to make amends as well as be ready to sacrifice time and energy for noble pursuit.
Wife of the governor of Anambra State and founder, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE) Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano said this while talking about issues behind the putting up of this year’s mother’s summit which was held at Dr Alex Ekwueme square Awka.
“The mother’s summit was born out of a burden to help mothers achieve the best in their roles of child bearing and more so be blessings to their families.
“God created all humans equal thus the necessity to treat one another with dignity and avoid actions that degrade the woman gender.
“The fight against gender-based violence demands the commitment and sacrifice of all persons from the government, religious and the community leaders.
She described the theme of the summit “Sustaining the Fight Against Gender-Based Violence” as very apt and timely.
Mrs Obiano reminded women of the need to remain cautious of Coronavirus pandemic and never lose their guards.
“Continue to observe the COVID-19 protocols as advised by the government and relevant health care givers.’’
She commended the participating women at this year’s Women Summit and the organizers.
“I thank all the speakers for their good advice on the issue of Gender-Based Violence.
“I want our women to take the advice they received seriously and spread the message in our communities and, also report any one who maltreats or molests any woman.
“That, I believe is one sure way of eradicating the menace from our society.’’
This year’s Women Summit took a new dimension as women across the 21 LGAs in the state exhibited their farm produce which ranged from garri, yam, fish, plantain, vegetables, palm fruits, palm oil and local spices at the venue of the event.
Wife of the governor joined the summit through Zoom platform.
