Taraba Committee decries violation of lockdown orders

The Taraba State Committee on Coronavirus has lamented the violation of the disease preventive measures and guidelines despite the lockdown orders put in place by the state government.

The Chairman of the Committee and the Taraba State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Innocent Vakkai said the committee was worried with the level at which residents of the state were violating the preventive guidelines.

Dr Vakkai stated this at a press briefing in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital.

“The violation of these orders by our people is posing great challenge in curtailing the outbreak of this disease in the state, we want to re-emphasise that the lockdown is still in progress and people are only allowed to go out on Wednesdays and Saturdays,” he said.

Dr Vakkai said the use of hand sanitisers, washing of hands, use of face masks and maintaining social distancing remained the best ways to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

He also stressed that the eight positive cases in the state were receiving treatment in the isolation Center in the state.

Dr Vakkai called on the people of the state to support the effort of the state government by obeying the universal acceptable preventive protocols of hand washing, use of sanitisers and maintaining social distancing.
