Otuocha (Anambra East LGA)-Transition Committee Chairman, Anambra East Local Government Area (LGA), Mr Obi Nweke has pledged to support the new traditional ruler of Ezi Agulu-Otu, Aguleri, Igwe Lawrence Nwofia.
Mr Nweke made this known during the presentation of the new Igwe-elect to the people by well meaning individuals of the community at the LG Secretariat, Otuocha.
He also pledged to work with Anambra State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to ensure that the administration of the new traditional ruler runs smoothly.
“Ezi Agulu Out, Aguleri had earlier sent a letter to me expressing their depression and dethronement of their former traditional ruler over misconduct to the state Government.’’
President-General, Ezi Agulu Out, Aguleri, Mr Ikechukwu Onuorah said that the former traditional ruler, Igwe Enemuo was among the 12 traditional rulers that were suspended by Gov. Willie Obiano over misconduct.
“Our community was not pleased with his action consequently, we dethroned him and elected Chief Lawrence Nwofia as our Igwe.’’
The new traditional ruler expressed satisfaction to the people over his enthronement.
“I promise to rule with the fear of God, to render honest services to humanity and to be open to receive useful suggestions from my people,’’ he said.
