Tinubu Appoints New Leadership for NCC and USPF


Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has constituted the boards of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF). Both agencies are under the supervision of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE).



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, announced the appointments in a statement issued on Tuesday. Idris Olorunnimbe has been appointed as the Chairman of the NCC, while Dr. Aminu Maida will remain its Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer. It is noteworthy that President Tinubu appointed Wada to the position in October 2023, and the Senate confirmed the appointment in November 2023. Olorunnimbe previously served on the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) Board, where he chaired the Stakeholder and Governance Committee and led youth employment and entrepreneurship programs.



The other members of the NCC board include Abraham Oshidami as Executive Commissioner for Technical Services, Rimini Makama as Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, and Hajia Maryam Bayi, a former Director of Human Capital and Administration. Additional board members are Col. Abdulwahab Lawal (Rtd), Sen. Lekan Mustafa, Chris Okorie, and Oforitsenere Emiko, who will serve as the Secretary of the Board.



The President has also approved the board for the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), appointing Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, as Chairman. Other USPF board members include Idris Olorunnimbe as Vice Chairman, Abraham Oshidami, Rimini Makama, Aliyu Edogi Aliyu representing FMCIDE, and Joseph Faluyi representing the Federal Ministry of Finance. The board is further complemented by Auwal Mohammed representing FMBNP, Uzoma Dozie, Peter Bankole, Abayomi Okanlawon, and Gafar Quadri, who will serve as the USPF Secretary.
