Owerri: President Bola Tinubu arrived in Owerri for a one-day visit, inaugurating the Assumpta Flyover and other significant projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the presidential aircraft landed at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, precisely at 12:52 p.m. Among the key projects inaugurated were the reconstructed 60-kilometre dual carriage Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia Federal Road and the newly constructed 6,000-capacity Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre in Owerri.

President Tinubu’s itinerary also included the public presentation of Governor Uzodimma’s fourth book, ‘A Decade of Impactful Progressive Governance in Nigeria’. The book chronicles Nigeria’s democratic journey and governance milestones under the All Progressives Congress over the past decade.

In preparation for the president’s visit, the Imo Government, through a statement by the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, and Investment, Mr. Rex Anunobi, announced the closure of eight markets in the state capital. Anunobi stated that the closure was necessary to enable the public to receive the president.

The statement emphasized, “The State Government has directed that the leadership of the affected markets should ensure that business activities do not take place in these markets and these markets remain closed on Tuesday 30th September, 2025. Rather, the government is requesting that all traders should come out en-masse to receive the president.”
