Abuja:President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians of his administration’s dedication to building a secure, stable, and economically prosperous nation. This assurance was delivered at the 66th Independence Anniversary Interdenominational Church Service at the National Ecumenical Centre.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the service was themed “Anchored in Hope: The Path to Divine Stability and Shared Prosperity.” Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu emphasized the resilience of Nigerians and expressed gratitude for the country’s endurance through challenges over the past 66 years.
Tinubu highlighted that the hard-earned gains from economic and political reforms were leading to structural stability, which should be used to foster widespread prosperity. He encouraged leveraging stability to deepen growth and extend prosperity across the nation.
Looking to the future, Tinubu urged citizens to protect 27 years of democratic governance as the 2027 general elections approach. He stressed
the importance of peace, dialogue, and unity in the electoral process to ensure it reflects the will of a united people. He also paid tribute to the Armed Forces and security agencies for their efforts in maintaining national security, offering prayers for fallen officers and their families.
Most Rev. Musa Filibus, the Archbishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, delivered a sermon on nation-building as a collective responsibility requiring faith, action, and accountability. He emphasized that true Christian hope inspires truth, justice, and unity, and should not be mistaken for wishful thinking.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, expressed gratitude to the attendees for their support of national unity and development. He affirmed the administration’s focus on ensuring economic progress benefits local communities and young Nigerians striving for a better future.
