Tinubu Urges Swift Action to Capture Arise TV Anchor’s Killers


Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Ms. Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a news anchor with Arise Television News, who was killed during a robbery at her residence in Abuja. This is contained in a statement by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday in Abuja.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to the Maduagwu family, Arise News management, and the entire Nigerian media community. He described Maduagwu as a promising professional journalist whose life was cut short in a cruel and condemnable manner. The President urged security and law enforcement agencies to conduct a quick and thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice without delay.



Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration remained committed to protecting lives and property, and would intensify efforts to combat all forms of crime across the country. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Maduagwu, 29, was killed early Monday during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja. The incident is currently under investigation by the Nigeria Police.
