Post: Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda Elevates Rule of Law with New Court of Appeal Complex in Abuja

Abuja: President Bola Tinubu asserts that his Renewed Hope Agenda is crafting a suitable foundation for the rule of law within the nation. Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, emphasized this while inaugurating the newly constructed Court of Appeal, Abuja Division building complex at Daki Biyu.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Tinubu remarked that the complex signifies more than just a building; it is a testament to the commitment under the Renewed Hope Agenda to provide a dignified abode for the rule of law. He highlighted the inadequacy of the previously cramped, temporary space used by the Abuja Division of the Court, stating, “A nation that seeks justice must respect the temple of justice.” He praised the efforts of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, for his diligence in delivering the project efficiently.

Wike’s prompt action was noted, having commenced the project in July with the promise of completion in 16 months, yet delivering ahead of schedule. Tinubu commended Wike’s work ethic, referring to him as ‘Mr Project’, and expressed satisfaction with the project’s quality, describing it as ‘world-class’. He emphasized that the new complex would facilitate expedited legal proceedings, ensure justice, uphold the rule of law, and alleviate congestion in correctional centers.

The president reiterated his administration’s dedication to restoring the integrity of national institutions across various sectors, including the judiciary, health, education, roads, and power. He expressed contentment with the FCT’s efforts to expand judicial infrastructure, improve residences for judicial officers, digitize judicial processes, and support legal education.

Further, Tinubu acknowledged the heavy docket of the Abuja Division, underscoring the importance of a conducive working environment for handling significant cases. He assured continued support for judicial advancements, asserting that the new complex is a right, not a favor.

Minister Wike noted that the infrastructure benefits both citizens and legal practitioners, aligning with Tinubu’s vision of reinforcing judicial independence. He questioned the feasibility of judicial independence without adequate facilities for judicial duties.

Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, described the unveiling of the building as an indication of the administration’s steadfast commitment to the rule of law. He praised Tinubu’s unparalleled support for judicial independence and institutional strengthening.

Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, President of the Court of Appeal, lauded Tinubu and Wike for their intervention, highlighting the previous infrastructure challenges that hindered efficient justice administration in the Abuja Division.

Mr. Olalekan Adebiyi, Managing Director of Visible Construction Ltd., the project’s contractor, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to this significant development, aligning with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to improve judicial work environments.
