Post: Tiwa Savage Unveils Foundation to Train Emerging Music Talents


Lagos: Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has selected 100 young talents for a specialised training under the newly unveiled Tiwa Savage Foundation. Savage unveiled the foundation on Monday in Lagos as part of efforts to develop young music talents and strengthen infrastructure within Nigeria’s creative industry.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the launch event, held at The Delborough Lagos, attracted celebrities, industry stakeholders, and government officials. Notable guests included Don Jazzy, Mo Abudu, Johnny Drille, and Cobhams Asuquo. Other dignitaries present were Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Sen. Florence Ita-Giwa, Daisy Danjuma, and Shade Okoya.

Speaking on the red carpet, Savage said the foundation was created to address critical gaps in education and infrastructure within Nigeria’s music industry. She emphasized the need to build infrastructure and invest in education to showcase Nigeria’s talent effectively. The foundation will focus on several aspects of the music ecosystem, including film scoring, m
usic publishing, music therapy, production, and sound engineering.

Savage disclosed that 100 young talents would participate in a four-day intensive programme organized in partnership with Berklee College of Music. She advised participants to make the most of the opportunity, as it is already paid for. She also mentioned that the foundation would provide global exposure and professional training for young creatives across different areas of the music business.

Gov. Sanwo-Olu commended Savage and expressed his support for the foundation, highlighting her contributions to the music industry. Pastor Bolaji Idowu commented on the foundation’s potential to create hope and opportunities for aspiring creatives, emphasizing the importance of love, kindness, and unity in society.

Johnny Drille praised Savage for her decade-long contributions to the Nigerian music industry and expressed hope that the initiative would elevate professionalism and creativity. Mo Abudu, CEO of EbonyLife Group, attended the event to cele
brate Savage’s new initiative and advised young creatives to pursue their dreams.

Mrs. Folasade Okoya, CEO of Eleganza Group, congratulated Savage on the foundation’s launch and expressed optimism about the initiative’s potential impact on the music industry. The foundation aims to provide education, mentorship, and international exposure for young creatives seeking careers in various aspects of the music industry.
