Train rides on Lagos-Ibadan Standard gauge rail to begin in February.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation NRC ,says trains will ride on the Lagos-Ibadan standard guage rail in the first week of February,2019.

Managing Director of the Corporation, Engr.Fidet Okhiria expressed satisfaction over the sequence of work at ongoing Lagos-Ibadan standard guage rail project.

Engr.Okhiria while inspecting the project from Iju area of Lagos State to Abeokuta said he was optimistic that within 7 days the tracks would be laid up to Iju.

He said the level of formwork, sequence of work has shown that train would ride on the rail from Iju area to Abeokuta between February 4th and 6th 2019.

According to him, the flag off of the train has not been fixed and what is important now is what many of us are seeing regarding the pace of work by the Contractor,China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation,CCECC.

As we are going on now to see how far the Contractor had gone, dont also forget that the test run we had at the last inspection was from Kajola to Abeokuta but this time around, the tracks had been laid up to Ijoko which is a testimony that in the next 7 days, the Iju axis would be completed.

I equally want to tell you that the Contractor has been laying 1.5 km per day and what we have left is about 9km which is obvious that in the first week of February, train will ride on the rail.

Also, we are waiting for Lagos State to do their station as we are going on faster.speed so that the project could be done on time as we all know that the rail is a national project.he added

He said all affected people or organization have been paid as compensation and no person organization could challenge them of none payment except the influential people that are clamouring for more.
